Avui els FCE WRITING TIPS es centraran en donar-vos consells molt útils de com escriure una REVIEW a la segona part del Writing Paper 2 del First Certificate.
Els punts principals que hauràs de tenir en compte per a saber com escriure una review al First són:
- És una de les opcions que et poden demanar a la segona part del Writing. A la segona part es pot escollir entre tres opcions. Entre aquestes tres opcions et poden demanar esciure una carta (formal o informal), un email, una crítica (review), un article o un report.
- L’objectiu principal de la review al First Certificate és que descriguis i expressis la teva opinió personal sobre alguna cosa que has experimentat (com una pel·lícula, vacances, llibre, producte, web…) i oferir al lector una clara impressió del que tracta. A la review, hauràs de donar una recomanació que permeti al lector decidir-se en si comprar / probar el producte en qüestió.
- S’escriu per a que es publiqui a una revista, diari o web anglesa, pel que ha de ser interessant de llegir i es pot utilitzar un to bastant informal. No ha de se tant seriós com un essay ni tampoc tant informal com una carta a un amic. És correcte utilitzar contraccions (you’re, isn’t, etc.) i que et dirigeixis directament al lector (Are you thinking of going to Rome this summer?).
- Recorda que a una review hauràs d’escriure sobre què tracta el llibre/pel·lícula… però sense entrar en masses detalls. Pots parlar sobre els personatges i/o moments més destacats però sense passar molta estona descrivint-los.
- Escriure un títol interessant que provoqui interés als lectors. El títol ha de reflexar la teva opinió.
FCE Writing tips: estructura de la review
A First Certificate hauràs d’estructurar la review en 4 paràgrafs:
- Paràgraf 1: donar informació bàsica sobre el llibre, pel·lícula, etc.
- Paràgraf 2: oferir informació detallada sobre el llibre, pel·lícula…. incloent característiques rellevants tant positives com negatives.
- Paràgraf 3: oferir informació detallada sobre el llibre, pel·lícula…. incloent característiques rellevants tant positives com negatives.
- Paràgraf 4: resum de la crítica on, a més, s’inclou si es recomanaria.

PARÀGRAF 1
Comença amb un ganxo i amb una descripció general del llibre/pel·lícula.
✅EXEMPLE
Do you love action-packed films? If so, Mission Impossible – Fallout is a must-see film for you. This film continues on from Rogue Nation. It is set in Paris but you are transported to fabulous locations around the world. Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise is the main character. He has to buy stolen plutonium core from a mafia in Eastern Europe. As the title suggest, however, this is not as easy as it seems.

Et deixem amb algunes frases que et poden ser útils per aquest primer paràgraf.
- The film I would like to review is…..
- The film/ book/ play/ etc. is set in….. / tells the story of…../ is based on a book, a true story, real-life events…..
- It is an excellent adaptation from the novel…
- It’s the first in a sequel of six…
- There are many memorable characters but the most important ones are….
- The main theme of the film is…..
- What the film is saying is…..
- The story of two people who meet after fifteen years is set against the historical setting of World War II Europe.
- The film/ play starts …../ is directed by…../ is the sequel to…..
PARÀGRAF 2 & 3
En aquests dos paràgrafs hauràs d’escriure sobre aspectes positius i negatius del tema en qüestió. Pots incloure tant un punt de vista objectiu (fets) com subjectiu (opinió personal). Abans d’escriure, fes una llista. Et serà útil per no deixar-te res.
Pots incloure els punts principals de la història (sense fer cap spoiler!) i pots evaluar tant la qualitat de l’actuació, l’estil d’escriptura, els personatges… Recorda que tant pots escriure més punts positius que negatius, a l’inrevés o fer un balanç. Tu decideixes!
✅EXEMPLE
The acting is superb; I think this is one of Tom Cruise’s best roles as an actor. The special effects are also phenomenal. One of the best points in the film is the spectacular chase when Hunt escapes in a fast car. However, this film is not suitable for young children because there are some scenes where there are fights and there is quite a lot of violence.
The plot is gripping because Ethan Hunt and his IMF team have to race against time after a mission gone wrong. Ethan Hunt has to try to eliminate the Syndicate – an international criminal organisation that also wants to destroy his IMF team. I also learnt a lot from this story about the dark world of international secret agents from this film.
????CONSELL
A una review, les bones descripcions són importants. No et quedis amb un simple good o bad. Ajuda al lector a imaginar-se del que es parla utilitzant adjectius interessants i colorits.
- Positive adjectives
award-winning / awe-inspiring / brilliant / dramatic / exceptional / fascinating / fast-moving / hilarious / informative / impeccable / gripping / lively / memorable / moving / perfect / powerful / realistic / stunning / superb / thought-provoking / well-written / well -acted / witty
- Negative adjectives
confusing / disappointing / dreadful / dull / inadequate / poor / predictable / unconvincing / unimaginative / uninteresting / weak
No facis només una descripció general. Intenta relacionar la teva review amb la teva experiencia personal. Per exemple, relacionar una escena concreta d’una pel·lícula amb una actuació que t’hagi fascinat.
PARÀGRAF 4
Hauràs d’acabar la teva review amb un resumen i amb la teva opinió. Hauràs de deixar clar al lector si recomanaries o no la pel·lícula/llibre i si la recomanaries amb alguna excepció. Recorda que, a la vida real, els lectors acostumen a llegir primer l’últim paràgraf per a conèixer le veredicte final abans de llegir la totalitat del text.
✅EXEMPLE
Overall, I would highly recommend Mission Impossible – Fallout to anyone who enjoys action movies. I only have one negative comment: in my view, the film is strong on action but weak on plot compared to the first film in the series. However, this is a small criticism of an otherwise fabulous action film.
