Expressions en anglès per a partir-se de riure!

Riure’s és un acte instintiu i natural i sempre s’ha dit que el riure és la millor medicina. Els 400 músculs que s’arriben a activar del nostre cos perquè puguem riure es diu que ens ajuden a augmentar l’esperança de vida, ens ajuda a reduir l’estrès i la depressió i fins i tot, entre molts altres, ens ajuda a millorar la circulació sanguínia. Per això i molt més, volem compartir amb vosaltres una sèrie d’expressions en anglès relacionades amb el riure.

En anglès riure es diu laugh. Es tracta d’un nom comptable que expressa l’acte o el so de riure o d’alguna cosa que ens provoca riure (laughter). Et deixem uns exemples:

You never laugh at my jokes. 

We always have a good laugh. (We always have fun).

He is such a good laugh. (He is fun to be with)

I, amb aquesta introducció, et deixem amb les expressions en anglès relacionades amb el riure:

BE IN STITCHES

  • • Significat: riure sense restriccions i amb moltes ganes.
  • Exemple: They were in stitches when they saw his fancy dress costume for Carnival.

BURST OUT LAUGHING

  • Significat: de sobte, començar a riure (També pots utilitzar l’expressió “crack up”).
  • Exemple: Everyone burst out / cracked up laughing when I tripped and fell on my face.

CRACK A JOKE

  • Significat: explicar un acudit.
  • Exemple: The comedian cracked a joke that made everyone fall about laughing.

GET A JOKE

  • Significat: entendre un acudit.
  • Exemple: Everyone is laughing at the punchline, but I don’t get it.Why is it so funny?

GET / HAVE THE GIGGLES

  • Significat: no poder parar de riure nerviosament amb sons curts i repetitius.
  • Exemple: I got the giggles when the bride walked into the room. I couldn’t stop.

HAVE THE LAST LAUGH

  • Significat: tenir èxit (o aconseguir alguna cosa) tot i que tots dubtessin que ho poguessis fer.
  • Exemple: You can laugh at me now, but I’ll have the last laugh.

LAUGH YOUR HEAD OFF

  • Significat: riure molt, sense poder parar.
  • Exemple: I told a joke on the first day of my summer camp and everyone laughed their heads off.

BE THE LAUGHINGSTOCK

  • Significat: ser la riota.
  • Exemple: I was the laughingstock at work after I accidentally posted an embarrassing picture on the website.

SHRIEK WITH LAUGHTER (también howl, roar, scream)

  • Significat: riure a riallades.
  • Exemple: The audience shrieked with laughter.

SPLIT (ONE’S) SIDES

  • Significat: és com el nostre “partir-se de riure”. Riure de forma compulsiva, com si, si ho continues fent, el teu cos es partiria.
  • Exemple: I split my sides when he got to that bit about the horse and the dog.

ROLL IN THE AISLES

  • Significat: riure sense poder parar.
  • Exemple: The last comedian who performed was hilarious. We were rolling in the aisles.

A més, us volem afegir un petit Consell a l’hora d’escriure en anglès a un whatsapp quan un riu. En català utilitzem jajaja o jejeje, però en anglès això són lletres. Si vols expresar que t’estàs rient has d’escriure hahaha o hehehe.
